This 3-Day workshop is geared for the beginner to the intermediate painter. I teach core fundamentals that many teachers neglect to teach students. Without these fundamentals I find students struggle to understand why they are frustrated with this magical medium. Students who have painted in WC for years find this workshop truly helps them move forward with their struggles. We will be covering techniques, pigments, water to paint ratio. Cost: 250.00. This 3-Day workshop is a deep dive into the color theory of watercolor. We will get deeper into the pigment properties of your watercolors, Which manufacturers have the best pigments to choose from. How to make your pigments work for you and how to make great color selections for your paintings. I will be introducing you to the color cube system during this workshop and if you would like to purchase the color cubes prior to this workshop I can give you the info when you sign up for the workshop. Painting Birds in Watercolor

If you love watercolor and struggle with it and would like to improve your skills and techniques then this is the workshop for you. Though the focus of this 3-day workshop will be on birds it will also be filled with information such as how to get the best design and layout from your images. The importance of value and color and how it strengthens your work will also be covered. How to choose the best colors for creating luminous color that many of us struggle to achieve. Techniques such as using salt to create textures in your subject.

I will be doing several demonstrations throughout the workshop and while I am painting you will be able to ask questions while I am working. After my demonstrations I will be working with each student one on one and helping you work through any issues you are struggling with.

Students who would like to paint along with me will be provided with a line drawing and photo reference to work from. Advanced level painters are encouraged to bring their own drawing and photo to work from.

Wildlife in Watercolor

Painting wildlife in watercolor can be challenging. During this 3-day workshop we will cover painting fur in an expressive manner, how to paint realistic eyes and how to paint the feathers of owls and other birds in an interruptive way.

Several techniques will be taught to help you stay loose and suggestive with your image. If you are just joining us in this workshop series and haven’t studied with me before I would highly recommend that you have some good basic fundamental skills and knowledge of the medium and its pigments. Several images and drawings will be provided for your practice during the workshop. We will also be doing a closeup of an eye for you to have as a future reference. Advanced level students are encouraged to work from their own photos and drawings.
