Wildlife in Watercolor
Painting wildlife in watercolor can be challenging, Using the knowledge and skills that we learned in the first two workshops will give you an advantage. During this 3-day workshop we will cover painting fur in an expressive manner, how to paint realistic eyes and how to paint the feathers of owls and other birds in an interruptive way.
Several techniques will be taught to help you stay loose and suggestive with your image. If you are just joining us in this workshop series and haven’t studied with me before I would highly recommend that you have some good basic fundamental skills and knowledge of the medium and its pigments. Several images and drawings will be provided for your practice during the workshop. We will also be doing a closeup of an eye for you to have as a future reference. Advanced level students are encouraged to work from their own photos and drawings.
The cost of the workshop is $250.00. A deposit of $100.00 is required to secure your space. A more detailed supply list will be provided upon receiving your deposit. Set up for the workshop begins daily at 9:30am and the lecture and demonstration begins promptly at 10am. Bring a brown bag lunch.
Painting Bold Loose Flowers
The focus in this class will be painting the beauty of loose florals. How to create beautiful vibrant colors and how to achieve that loose, splashy lost edge look.
Compositional design and layout along with color selection will be covered. Many demonstrations and techniques will be covered during this 3-day workshop.
Students who would like to paint along with me will be provided with a line drawing and photo reference to work from. Advanced level students are encouraged to bring their own drawing and photo to work from.

Painting Birds in Watercolor
If you love watercolor and struggle with it and would like to improve your skills and techniques then this is the workshop for you. Though the focus of this 3-day workshop will be on birds it will also be filled with information such as how to get the best design and layout from your images. The importance of value and color and how it strengthens your work will also be covered. How to choose the best colors for creating luminous color that many of us struggle to achieve. Techniques such as using salt to create textures in your subject.
I will be doing several demonstrations throughout the workshop and while I am painting you will be able to ask questions while I am working. After my demonstrations I will be working with each student one on one and helping you work through any issues you are struggling with.
